Great Battles

.During our fight for freedom in the 1700s, there were many great battles. Some of the battles the Americans won, and some battles the British won. The first great battle, and the first battle of the war , was the battle of Lexington and concord.
During the battle of Lexington and Concord , which was the battle when Paul Revere rhode around the town telling everybody that the brithish were coming. the battle started , while the brithish were crossing over into Concord,to find ammo and guns for themselves, and on the way they killed 8 minutemen. The Brithish did nit find any weapons or ammo, and on the way back , they were confronted by 300 minutemen, and they were sent back.
Another great battle faught in the revolutionary war, but dissapointing for George washington and his men , was the battle of Long Island. the battle took palce in August in the year 1776. The British invaded long Island, and George Washington and his men tried to defend thier land, but with all the strenght the british had, the americans were sent back.
The battle of Bunker hill was also a great battle. The battle took palce on june 17, 1775. The battle really took place on Breads Hill ,but Bunker Hill was bigger so they called it htat. The Patrots killed 1000 british soldiers , but they ran out of ammo, and the brithish took advantage of ti and drove the Americans back.
The turning point in the war, was the battle of Saratoga. The battle was in upstate New York, in the summer of 1775. The paln for the British, was for them to advance to albany, and meet up with Barry St. Leger. The Patrots, had a different plan, they were not going to let the British advance to Albany. With the Strentghend Army that the Americans had, they stopped the British from advancing.
The last Great batlle , and the last battle of the war was, the Battle of Yorktown, which was in Virginia. The patriots faught hard and long against Cornwallis's army , and they won the battle , and they proved their independence to the British.
